Matoo Stern a commencé le dessin dès l'enfance, captivé par le regard et la perception du monde extérieur. L’artiste s'instruisit à l’École des Beaux-Arts d’Angers et fit une MANAA (Mise à Niveau en Arts Appliqués) à Bordeaux. Elle voyagea notamment en Côte d'Ivoire, Australie, Hollande, Suisse, Ecosse et La Palma. Inspiré par des road trips en Italie, Autriche et Hongrie, avec l'artiste Léa Sabra, Stern étudia l’histoire de l’art à l’Université de Poitiers. 

Le monde artistique de Matoo Stern correspond à des représentations abstraites du monde réel.  En jetant la peinture sur une toile ou un support à même le sol (technique du dripping), l'artiste laisse les couleurs s'exprimer. La projection peut alors représenter une étoile ou une fleur, petites de notre point de vue, pourtant contenant en elles, une infinité de flux. À travers les diverses formes crées par les mouvements de projection, Stern veut montrer cette vie en toute chose, qui est perceptible via des jeux de points de vue et d'échelles. L'artiste propose des peintures de projection, ainsi que des compositions figuratives et des pots décoratifs. Ces derniers mettent en valeur des plantes variées où l'utilisation des couleurs a été adaptée à chaque esthétique du végétal en question. L'art de Stern a pour but de cultiver la contemplation et pousser l'interprétation chez le spectateur. Il aborde des sujets qui animent l'artiste, notamment les sentiments humains et la nature.

Matoo Stern started to draw during childhood, always captivated by the look of the outside world. The artist did the École des Beaux Arts in Angers and a MANAA (an upgrade in applied arts) in Bordeaux. She traveled especially in Ivory Coast, Autralia, Holland, Switzerland, Scotland and La Palma. Inspired by road trips in Italia, Austria and Hungary with the artist Léa Sabra, Stern studied History of Art at the University of Poitiers (France). 

Matoo Stern’s artistic world corresponds to abstract representations of the real world. By throwing the painting on a canvas or a support on the floor (dripping technique), the artist lets the colors express themselves. The drip can then represent a star or a flower, small from our point of view, yet containing in them an infinity of flux. Through the various forms created by the projection movements, Stern wants to show this life in all things, which is perceptible through the interplay of points of view and scales. The artist proposes projection paintings, as well as figurative compositions and decorative pots. These highlight various plants where the use of colors has been adapted to each aesthetic of the plant in question. Stern’s art aims to cultivate contemplation and push interpretation into the viewer. It covers topics that animate the artist, including human feelings and nature.
